Closer to graduating…

Dear readers,

I have just finished another semester of college. I am one semester away from my bachelor’s in English/Creative Writing. I can see the end in sight. Afterward, I look forward to focusing my efforts on three things. A new business opportunity (details later), writing, and my kiddo.

Updates on my current projects:

  1. Audio book for Fighting for Love is coming along. I will be listening to a resubmitted version of the first 15 minutes some time this week.
  2. Previously titled The Honeymoon is still in the revision stages. I don’t foresee it getting out of this stage for some time. Looking at a possible release sometime in the next year or so. It is also getting a new title. Possible new title is Tale of Two Hearts, but I am still unsure of it.
  3. Reading. I am looking forward to be able to read for fun again. I really haven’t wanted to read while I’ve been in school (I know, it is a shocker since I love to read), so this will be on my list of things to do as I graduate and move forward on my projects.
  4. I am looking into starting an emailing list, where I send out newsletters or a quick update, kind of like this. When that is up and running I will let you know. I know that this blog has an emailing list that updates you all whenever I make a new posting, but I would also like to include updates on other things. Haven’t decided what exactly will go into the newsletter thing, but I really want to have that for my fans/readers.
  5. One project that I have been slowly working on, is an idea to start my own publishing/editing company. I know, there are like a bazillion editors out there. Well, I am hoping that I have a niche for this. So, look for more details as we go through the next year.

I would like to wish all of my readers Happy Holidays (no matter which of them you celebrate). I am looking forward to showing you all how much I have grown as a writer over the last couple of years since the release of Charlotte’s Revenge.

Thank you all for supporting me in my journey.

It’s Fall!

Hi Readers,

I finished up my summer classes and I am now about 5 weeks into my final fall semester! I cannot believe that this time next year I won’t be in school anymore. That’s the hope anyway! This semester I am taking Intermediate Poetry, Advanced Fiction Writing, American Literature I, and Intermediate Spanish Part 2 (my last Spanish class!). So far it has been so much fun. If you would like to read any of my poetry, I have put them on a website for writers:

http://figment.com/books/941764-My-Poems

If you need an access code, use this: E29Y5-38SR7-JAX2U

I’m not exactly sure how it works if you aren’t a member of the website. Let me know! I was talking with my boss at the SUU Writing Center, and she was shocked that I don’t really enjoy poetry. She asked me if I like music and told me, “Well, that’s poetry.” She’s right, but I feel like there is a difference. Anyway, I came to the conclusion that poetry is not my go-to literature. I have also decided that while I do not like reading poetry, writing it is pretty fun. My favorite so far is the one called “Trapped”. My professor asked us to read through some books of poetry and choose the first line of a poem and then write about the line. The line I found was a single word, “Trapped”. I talked about writer’s block. I am really anxious to hear back from my professor about how I am doing, but she isn’t giving feedback to us until the last half of the semester. We do have some in-class workshops that are coming up and I am also excited, and nervous, about those.

My Advanced Fiction Writing class is actually fun. The first time I took a class from this professor, I was so stressed out. I worried that I would be stressed again this semester, but so far I have been having a good experience. One of the first writing exercises we did was to think of something unknown and start writing about it. I didn’t even get to what I wanted to write about, because I decided to start at the beginning of my day and work my way up to the event. I got the feedback on it today and he liked the description, but wondered where the unknown was. I struggle with description, so I’ll take what I can get.

I would talk about the other two classes, but I don’t want to bore you. Just know they are going well. Although, Spanish is certainly kicking my butt. I just keep telling myself that I just need to get through the semester and never have to think about it again! Haha! I know it isn’t that bad, but it is like poetry, I just haven’t found what I really like about Spanish yet. Sorry to anyone who really loves Spanish. I am really glad that you do, because then it will hopefully cancel out how I feel about it!

Since I am in school, I really haven’t had the chance to work on any of the stories I was previously working on. Which means that everything is on hold. I am working on a piece for my fiction class, but other than that, I have nothing to report. Oh, I am scheduled to receive the first 15 minutes of “Fighting For Love” as an audio book, by September 30th.

“Fighting For Love” on sale…NOW!!!(and some other things!)

Okay, so I’m a few days late in getting this announcement out. I’ve been busy trying to market this great book!!

But, first…You may have noticed a few extra tabs up above. Let me explain!

Articles: I have written a few articles over the years. On this page you will find the profile links to the websites in which I have been published.

My Amazon Store: all there is on this page is a link. For whatever reason wordpress.com doesn’t support Amazon widgets…but wordpress.org does. If you click on the link you will find “Fighting For Love” along with other e-books that I have either read or really really want to read for sale. I’ll be adding books throughout the coming months so check back for recommendations there!

Sample Chapters: will only be for published works as opposed to the “stories” tabs which has samples of rough draft versions of projects I am working on! Hope you followed that! Currently “Fighting For Love” has 3 chapters available…along with links to both Amazon and Barnes & Noble to purchase…cause I just know that when you get to the end of chapter 3 you will be dying to know what happens next!! Enjoy!

and lastly…

Blog Ring…will be for those fans who have their own blog and would like some extra traffic…please provide a short description of your blog or website and I’ll post it on a page that matches your topic! Right now we have a Writer Blogs and in the works is a Homemaker Blogs page! Keep them coming!

Now to business…”Fighting For Love” is on sale…as of August 8th, 2011. Which just happened to be my 29th birthday!! Yay!! As mentioned before it is on sale through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Thanks everyone!

Last Day of the Semester!

For those that aren’t aware…I was in school this semester! It was a blast! I only had two classes and they both were way fun.

The first was Intro to Film. I learned so much from that class that my interest in the film industry has been piqued, more so now then ever before. Our Professor asked if anyone is thinking of pursuing a career in the film industry and I said, “Screenwriting, maybe directing and editing sounded interesting…”
We watched a documentary on Editing in class and it was amazing to see what all goes into that. So…it was a really fun class. Final is on Tuesday!

My second class was called: Intro to Imaginative Literature: Superheroes!
Yes, I paid the school to teach me about Superheroes and it was worth it!
I learned about the mythology behind superheroes, some of the first heroes in history, Superman(more in depth than just watching or reading!), and so much more!
We got to do a presentation on a Superhero of our choice at the end of the semester and I chose to do the TV show “Lois & Clark”. I think it went well and was told later by a couple of my classmates that they really enjoyed my presentation. So…hopefully I did really good on it! It was a bit of a nightmare getting it ready, but that’s a whole other story! Final is a take home quiz because we still have 5 more presentations to go through on our scheduled final day; which is Wednesday and we are to turn in our take home final before then!

I am taking the summer off to focus on writing and finding some employment. Maybe I will even have that all important announcement about my e-book!!
My sister and I have finished editing Chapters 1-8 out of 14 chapters. So…we are getting closer!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I am also in the process of getting a fan page on Facebook set up so watch for the link coming soon!!

A writing prompt mishap…

So, I found this writing prompt and I had it all figured out. It was a fun little short story with an opening line of: “Boiled peanuts were the ceremonious gift”

And then I get all the way done and hit the publish button. The screen says, “You are not logged in…log in.”

I think, well maybe it will have saved…
Nope!
Gone is the wonderful master piece about a young couple who eats boiled peanuts on their wedding night and decides they will give boiled peanuts to all their friends on their wedding days! Only to find out the boiled peanuts they ate were actually one of their friends!

Anyway, sorry there hasn’t been much activity like I promised over a month ago. I started school and that has been way fun!

Thanks for stoppin’ by!

NaNo 2010 is coming soon!

I am so excited for NaNoWriMo 2010! It is just around the corner(well, less than a month away!) and I am looking forward to getting this novel idea out of my head and onto “paper”.

Here is my idea:

Savanna Edwards has just learned she can travel through time – without the need of a time machine. However, to be able to control when and where she goes she must find her way through time itself to find items she’ll need. Along for the ride is Finn Jacobs; someone who has already fallen in love with Savy(as her friends call her). Finn lives near Savy’s Grandma a witty character who once upon a time was a time traveler herself. Great adventures await Savy on her journey through time.

Twilight fans will note that the last names of my main characters are that of a few characters in Twilight. This was pure coincidence on my part. The names just seemed to fit and I’m going to be bratty and say…I’m not changing them! Haha!!

I’ll post my progress in November and I might even share some of what I have with you!

Thanks for stopping by!

Script Frenzy!

Is in 19 days! Holy cow! I have no clue what to write about. Anyone have any ideas? I’m thinking a TV pilot but not sure of the topic!

Look for updates in April about Script Frenzy. I hope it turns out.

If you are not sure what Script Frenzy it is like NaNoWriMo; but for scripts! Instead of a 50,000 word novel; it is a 100 page script! It should be lots of fun!

Sandy

****Edited To Add:  With a little under a week before Script Frenzy starts I finally know what I am going to write about!! And I am very excited!

Ready for the topic? K, here it is: I have always liked the idea of doing a college drama, from the perspective of a Latter-Day Saint! So, then I had this book idea a while(like 6 years ago!) back to emphasis the stigma of getting a “Ring by Spring” when you go to BYU-Idaho (it may be at other LDS based colleges, but I know it is at BYU-I!).

So, the topic is going to be sort of a mix between Felicity(the first few seasons! Season 4 was just weird!) and Singles Ward!!!

There you have it! I’ll probably post a little bit of the script on its own page so look for it come April!!
